Sara has attended over 250 births since becoming a birth doula in 2001. I support women in the hospital, home and birth center settings. I am certified through toLabor to attend women in childbirth. My trainings include toLabor (formerly ALACE), Penny Simkin, Ina May Gaskin, Spinning Babies and Acupressure with Keith Bell. My passion is educating others about unmedicated childbirth and supporting those in the community who want VBAC. I started the first ICAN of Richmond chapter in 2003 and worked for six years counseling hundreds of women on their VBAC journeys. I received my B.A. in Women's Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. I love getting to know the couples I work with and building a great relationship that carries over to their birth. I also enjoy the hands on work during their birth and seeing the couple work together to become a family. The strength I see is really amazing and I love helping women feel supported and cared for during this transformative time. I am a mother to three amazing kids (two are VBACs!) and have been married to my husband for 21 years! I am so proud to support my children in their love of visual arts, music, theater, and soccer. My hobbies include reading, knitting and making herbal medicine.
* The current EDDs that I am hiring for are in green. I take into account that your due date is just an estimate, and birth can fall between 38-42 weeks
